I have created a number of limited edition packaging for high-end products by Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier (DPI group), Paco Rabanne, Kezon and Dior Perfumes (LVMH) released to coincide with holidays, such as Mother’s/Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Christmas. I have also created similar special editions of products for Duty Free to engage consumers going on vacation, such as “Summer Celebrations at Kenzo.”
In each case, the key is to engage with potential consumers by making the purchasing experience personal and magical, bringing them into the product’s world.
For Paco Rabanne, a bag was reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick and fashion.
For Issey Miyake, the bottles were packaged in “books” with the pages cut out to reveal a secret between the owner and the product protected inside.
For Kenzo, a lightly-scented pillow within which the perfume bottle and a gift were concealed were meant to inspire sweet dreams and the romance associated with keeping one’s nightwear private.
